Founded in 2002 as Island Wheel Refinishing, the company was first run as a one-man operation by Spencer Tang. In addition to starting this company that was the first-to-market business in repairing alloy wheels, he was an associate pastor with Hope Chapel Manoa.
In 2006, Spencer sold the company to friend Blake Arakawa, whom he mentored in the trade. Blake renamed the company RimCraft and hired the company's first employees. Over the ten-year period under Blake's leadership, the company evolved in order to meet the needs of a growing business. This meant new tools, new materials, and new methods.
After Blake suffered a serious motorcycle accident, the company's operations were forced to shut down for 2 years. The company remained dormant until summer 2017, when Spencer and his family returned to the island. This time the family included Spencer's son-in-law, Caleb, and hānai son, Milton. They saw the opportunity was still viable, and agreed to buy the company back from Blake.
Blake oversaw Caleb and Milton's training period with the necessary attention to detail, and started on their own in September of 2017. The company rebranded itself as Precision Rim Repair, and under Caleb and Milton's management has seen success and continued growth.
In 2023 Caleb, Milton and their families moved to the mainland. Spencer, bought the company back from them and continued the business he started in 2002. He is also the leader of a small church in East Honolulu and has 2 of his six daughters still living with him and his wife, Wendy. The also have 3 dogs, 2 birds and 1 cat!!
